Et-Tu Jen posted her thoughts about the Sign of Peace way back in June and I laughed my fool head off. I made my husband read it and he laughed his fool head off. Well he smiled anyway…I could definitely detect amusement. Usually it takes some sort of sports related joke to make him really laugh. Diatribes about the sign of peace usually just result in him taking the opportunity to express his thoughts about the evils of holding hands during the Our Father. Former Protestant that I am I just don’t understand what a catastrophic undermining of Catholic tradition holding hands represents.
Anyway, Jen brought up her issues again today when she mentioned that if you do a Google search for on socially awkward person, she is #4 in the results. (Frankly, I think that all of her readers could bump up the list a little if they tried. After all, why shouldn’t she be #1?) Anyway, I went and read her post of the Sign of Peace all over again and laughed just as hard this time. If you haven’t read it, you really should do so.
And while you are at it, her Reckless Experiment With Prayer will make you smile too, but for very different reaasons.
