What Gets Sharpie Marker Off Of Grout?

December 19th, 2007 · No Comments

I heard you. You said, “Nothing.”

One of the very hard parts about homeschooling is that not only do you not have as much time to devote to housecleaning but those people are underfoot making a mess for much more of each day. Yes. They have chores. Yes we try, but periodically you just have to stop school and clean. It was time. And this time, I got a new toy to help me.

A Ladybug XL2300 TANCS

Yes. It’s expensive. But this took permanent marker off of grout! Half my house is windows and the other half is grout so clean grout is something that means a lot to me. I’ve put my new toy through the paces the last two days. I’ve cleaned glass, mirrors, my slate backsplash (the backsplash behind the stove had some oil splases on it and the Ladybug dissolved them), I’ve cleaned the guck out of every crevice I could find in every bathroom and kitchen, green mildew off of the outside windows ledges, my oven, the gaskets on the oven, the bathroom my children use (they are under contract with a local terrorist organization to conduct biological warfare experiments in there), the refrigerator….deep sigh, let me tell you what kind of clean this did in the refrigerator…it cleaned my laminate flooring like a dream and all without any chemicals whatsoever. I am in. love.

Two things that I did use a little chemical boost for. Hard water scale is almost untouched by the Ladybug. A little Lime Away assist fixed that. Vinegar would probably work too. Soap scum was just a little too sticky without a little squirt of Scrub Free.

Still ahead….death to the dust mites in the carpet, and freshening of the living room upholstery. When it’s not cleaning, the Ladybug can supply steam for taking the wrinkles out of clothes too.

So that’s what I have been doing today instead of blogging. A pumpkin-praline cheesecake, and some shopping are on deck tomorrow.
